Back to Nature: I quickly decide that this is a fantasy world composed of cubes, but with environmental details that are close to real nature. The color palette features bright and gentle tones. My hope is that it gives people a sense of relaxation, a feeling of going out for a picnic.

-
Inspiration: The story begins here. After the journey in A Short Hike ends, I was deeply touched by the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. I hope to create such a beautiful mini world myself. And it's also a game about climbing the hill. But what's different is that I'm going to place more emphasis on puzzles.

-
No Jumping: The world has a unique rule: 'No Jumping'. Therefore, all gameplay revolves around this. How to climb a hill without jumping? To answer this, I then settled on another key feature: multi-character control, focusing on cooperation. All friends need to work together to reach the summit and enjoy the splendid view.

Core Mechanism
— Character Movement Rules —
-
Totally, there are 4 controllable characters: three cube climbers and one cat(ouranimal friend!).
-
Different characters can stack on top of each other to reach higher places. Note that you cannot stand on the cat.
-
You can only control characters that are not stacked under others. Additionally, moving the top character will also move the characters below it.

— Interactable Elements in the Scene —
-
Since cube hikers cannot jump, how can they move forward?
-
Wisely utilize the elements in the environment, solve puzzles and overcome obstacles!

— Character Special Skills —
-
Each cube climber has his own unique skill, which is very helpful for the journey. When the corresponding cube can use a skill, the interactive object will be highlighted.

Scene Art Design

-
When I first learned about the concept of vertical vegetation structure, I was deeply impressed.
-
There is a mountain that perfectly exemplifies the vertical distribution of vegetation. That is Kilimanjaro.
-
Thanks to its geographical location and significant height, Kilimanjaro exhibits exceptionally rich and distinct vegetation zones.
-
The vegetation zones on Kilimanjaro are created by the different climate zones on the mountain.
-
Similarly, in the world of A Cube Hike, the surrounding scenery also changes as the elevation increases.
-
When it comes to the color scheme, natural and soft tones are chosen to reflect the changes in vegetation zones.

Collections
-
Some corners of the hill hide collectable items. Go search for them! There may be a little story hidden behind them.

— Movement Control —
-
In A Cube Hike, there is a set of new rules for movement system, so the moving control needs to be customized. For example, the collision check has its new method of implementation.
